Moist and full of cinnamon goodness. Gluten free waffles at their best!
Waffles! Deliciously full of flavor, moisture and 100% gluten free. This a recipe you should plan on making right away for a great start to your day tomorrow. As an added bonus this recipe yields a great big batch of waffles. Using my Oyster waffle machine, which makes four small square waffles at once, I came away with eight squares from one batch.
That’s fantastic for me since I’m cooking for three hungry boys. We all delight in the scrumptious flavor of cinnamon, and when mixed with applesauce and a few scoops of brown sugar the flavor is enhanced! The taste of these waffles is so soft, moist and delicious, there’s hardly a need for syrup. Which I love because it makes for a mess-free meal for my littlest one.
A big part of the success of this recipe is the choice of your gluten free flour. I have used many different brands over the years, but I have found great satisfaction in King Arthur Flour – Gluten Free. It measures out equally with traditional white flour and is soft, fluffy and has helped me make many wonderful baked goods. Test it out for yourself and see what you think.
- 1.5 cups of Gluten Free Flour
- 3 T dark brown sugar
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 t xanthan gum
- 1 T cinnamon
- 2 t baking powder
- 1 c applesauce (I used Mott’s Natural Applesauce)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 c almond milk (I used unsweetened vanilla)
- 1 t vanilla
- 2 T melted butter (unsalted). Do yourself a favor and use real butter, not margarine.
So easy. And while it’s cooking, I slice up some fresh strawberries for a nice compliment to the cinnamon waffles.
This recipe is too good to pass up. I sometimes will make in the evening for a nice snack for me and then I have breakfast ready to serve the next morning. Enjoy!
